
Dr. Manning has been engaged in therapeutic work since 1998, and has practiced as a marriage and family therapist
in a variety of clinical settings.
Additionally, Dr. Manning has conducted research for
academic and public policy purposes. In 2005, she was selected to be a Social Science Fellow for The Heritage Foundation
in Washington, D.C. As a result of her work there, she was invited to testify before a Senate sub-committee regarding
the harms of Internet pornography.
She has written numerous book chapters and academic
journal articles, and is regularly invited to participate in radio talk shows and television programs. In 2008, Shadow Mountain
Press published her first book entitled What's the Big Deal about Pornography?: A Guide for
the Internet Generation. In 2009, she was awarded the Champion of Decency Award
by the Citizens for Decency group in Idaho.
Dr. Manning actively volunteers
for state and federal organizations that are striving to uphold standards of decency in our communities. The National
Law Center for Children & Families, CP80, The Utah Coalition Against Pornography, and Enough is Enough are just some of
the groups she consults with and supports.
